Each student will be required to develop and write a paper on a specific topic that integrates two perspectives of psychology. For example, Racial Prejudice could be looked at from multiple perspectives, which may include Cross-cultural and Cognitive Psychology. Students should choose topical issues in psychology or beyond.

Students must get prior approval from the instructor that the topic is appropriate for this assignment. To request approval students will type and turn in the proposed title of the paper, the proposed topic, a diagram of which and how the two courses come to bear on the topic, and three proposed references in APA style. Topics must be critical and substantive in nature and not simply a literature review. Additionally, it must be integrative (not simply half of the paper on the one group course contribution and the other half on the other group contribution). Based on your critical analysis of the literature, the last section of the paper will be your knowledgeable and well-reasoned insights regarding the future direction(s) that the area may take. Please see the course outline for the deadline for topic approval.

Papers must include at least 10 peer-reviewed journal articles as references, of which seven or more must be empirical. You are welcome to use more than 10 articles. Length of papers should be a minimum of 12 full pages not including the title page, abstract page, and reference pages. I highly recommend that you have multiple colleagues proofread your paper for APA style, grammar, and content.

It is important to note that plagiarism will not be tolerated on this or any other assignment. Among other things, simply rewording a sentence and not citing correctly are both considered plagiarism. Resources are available in multiple places to help you understand what plagiarism is. If your paper is found to be plagiarized you will receive a zero for the assignment and no make-up opportunity will be available.
