McDonald's FDI
Topic:
Internationalization of the World’s Largest Corporations into Highly Uncertain Countries
How do the world`s largest companies tackle with the question whether to internationalize via foreign direct investment (FDI) into highly uncertain contexts or not and how do they behave in terms of decisions to be made (entry mode; subsidiary manager; activities performed, etc.).
The issue behind this idea is to investigate how companies deal with uncertainty, whether they automatically combine uncertainty with risk exposure and rather negative effects for their company – which would lead to a decision not to internationalize or to internationalize with less resource commitment in such contexts – or whether they perhaps identify an upside potential in uncertainty which they subsequently try to exploit by establishing a FDI.
To reveal the behavior of the world`s largest companies, you have to develop a review of existing research on the topic of uncertainty/risk and firm internationalization in international business research and second, a description, analysis and discussion of the various steps undertaken and decisions made by the company.
With an Excel-Sheet to complicate.
